House Concert Welcomes Singer/Songwriter Ian McFeron, with fiddler Alisa Milner, September 20th

Ian McFeron is an alt-folk, Americana-singer/songwriter touring with fiddle player, Alisa Milner.

Ian started composing music on the piano at the age of four. As a teen he moved onto the guitar, momentarily seeing it as an instrument better accommodated to his growing interest in poetry and lyrical songwriting. Much of his writing is indebted to such 1960′s folk and rock greats as Bob Dylan, Donovan, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and the Beatles. Contemporary influences include Tracy Chapman, Eliot Smith, Gillian Welch, Wilco, and Ryan Adams. His music is a record of personal experiences grappling with complex emotions such as love and loss, enchantment and disillusionment, joy, sorrow, nostalgia, acceptance, and exquisite wonder..

Alisa has been performing traditional Texas Style fiddle music with her family in coffee shops, festivals, and fiddle competitions since the age of six. She has won numerous Washington State and Regional Old Time Fiddle Contests. Her influences range from swing sensations Stephane Grappelli and Vassar Clements to Texas style fiddle legends Benny Thomasson, Terry Morris, and Mark O’Connor.

Ian and Alisa are touring in support of their new album, Summer Nights.  This was recorded in Nashville with members of Ryan Adams and Patty Griffin’s touring bands.  The album has been stirring up some exciting grassroots press and radio buzz, and one song from the album has been in rotation on the Sirius Satellite, “Coffee House” station for the past 9 months, bringing in lots of new fans and online sales throughout the country.  They also received a 4-star rating in the UK’s Maverick Magazine during our last tour in the Europe.
