About 4 years ago, I found a recipe for a relatively healthy nearly all whole wheat pizza dough. I really liked it, made it often and then it became a staple around here. I decided to try it on the grill – “as seen on TV” and it’s actually a breeze.
I started dabbling with sauces and came up with my version of the classic red pizza sauce/marinara sauce.
Wanting to branch out a bit, I found and perfected a Roasted Garlic & Feta white sauce, which pairs really well with Caramelized Onions, Spinach and Chicken Sausage.
Another staple around here is my Spicy Peanutty Thai Shrimp Pasta and I thought, ‘how can I put that on a pizza’? So, created a Thai Chicken with Peanut Sauce Pizza.
Now with my new grill (purchased in summer 2012), I can fit so many more crusts on it, but I’ve been pondering and playing with grilled breakfast pizzas and dessert pizzas.
My friends don’t mind coming over for pizza night, so, I thought why not share this with others and added it to the menu here at Whispering Pines.
And, now I’m teaching this Pizza on the Grill Class through Southeast Community College and here’s the class description:
From top to bottom, we’ll prepare the dough, make the sauces, chop and dice, sauté and bake pizza on the grill. From a traditional
herbed garlic red to specialty sauces like a white roasted garlic and feta or a Thai peanut sauce, we’ll try a variety of pizza’s and toppings and Jeanna’s favorite combinations; including a breakfast pizza and a dessert pizza! A fun night of cooking filled with flavors. You’ll take home pizza dough, recipes and you’ll never call for take-out pizza again! Limited Hands On/Demonstration. May 7, 6:30 – 9:30 PM at Whispering Pines B&B.
