Acoustic Folk and finger-picking
Ozark Hutch, aka Will Hutchinson is a 28 year old singer/songwriter from Lincoln, Nebraska. His songs are filled with stories both historical and autobiographical and his stripped down instrumentation and vocal approach allows him to be more vulnerable on stage and nimble on the road.
Inspired by artists of his father's youth, growing up Will listened to a blend of Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, and Elvis. The influences of his origins shine through today in his simple song structures, catchy melodies, and clear lyrical imagery. Will began writing music in 2005 when he moved to Minneapolis for college and discovered a thriving music scene there. Since that time he has written dozens of songs, released a self recorded EP titled "fast asleep," and three studio albums Arrive (2009), Goldfish Diaries (2013), and Teal Water (2016).
In 2010, Will moved to Los Angeles to expand his musical horizons and become a member of one of the largest singer/songwriter communities in the country. On the weeknights he would street perform by himself until all the shops closed or meet up with a couple friends (Ari Herstand and Jesse MaCleod) in a Crosby Stills and Nash style cover band heralding the attention of passerby's with their three part harmonies and bright red suspenders. On the weekends he worked as part of the concert staff at Los Angeles's longtime acoustic venue gem McCabe's Guitar Shop where he would meet heroes like Leonard Cohen and Jackson Browne. In 2013, Will was awarded as a finalist in the International John Lennon Songwriting competition with over 25,000 contestants just before moving back to Nebraska.
Now living in Nebraska, in 2015, Will played over 50 shows in 8 different states, finished the writing and pre-production for his new record and filmed his first professional music video for his best selling song "Coal Miner" available for viewing on Youtube and Vimeo. 2016 has gotten off to a great start with the release of a new record "Teal Water", full band performances locally under Ozark Hutch, a new folk duo project called Orion and Ozark playing many old time traditional folk songs and singing two part harmonies through out the state and beyond. In August, Ozark will be returning to Los Angeles for a songwriting retreat to finish the recording of a new EP with his folk trio Young Canyon.
