At Whispering Pines you're sure to find a room to suit your way to stay. Choose from five bedrooms, all with private baths and uniquely decorated.

You’ll find the following In-Room amenities: refrigerators with bottled waters, waffle weave kimono robes, Alarm clock w/radio and CD player, hair dryers, comfortable reading chairs, local and travel reading materials, luxury bed linens and quality bath towels. Wi-Fi is available throughout the main house.

Rooms and Rates

Regular rates are seasonal and vary throughout the calendar year. Holidays and Special Event weekends may vary. All rates are per room, per night for single or double occupancy. An extra charge will be assessed for each additional person over two. Rates do not include tax and are subject to change without notice.

The Arbor

Just recently updated in Winter 2011, the Arbor, decorated in rich tones, brings in the local Nebraska City Arbor themes of trees, apples and wines. This cozy room offers a king size four poster iron bed and private bath with shower. The extra large space also provides a daybed for hanging out (or as an extra bed), a desk, and 19” flat screen TV connected to cable. You’ll find an exposed limestone foundation wall along the stairway and a wooden support post in the middle of this downstairs room, both typical in Victorian Era construction. They both add a little character to the room and better yet, are holding up this old house.

The Rose

The Rose room says romance! In this extra large room, you'll be welcomed by an iron king bed from which you have a wonderful view. You’ll find a cozy sitting area, table and chairs and your own private bathroom with tub/shower. The entire South side of the upstairs, it overlooks the gardens and French silk curtains adorn the many windows. Decorated with the ladies and gents of the era in mind, dim the lights and the ambiance says romance! This room has personal climate control, you control the heating and air conditioning.

The Traveler’s

The Traveler’s is an extra large room with a King size bed and a private bath with shower. The sink is made from an old gentleman’s chest. Curl up in the cozy chair and half and read a book or dine at the table. The twin sleeper hidden in the Chair and a Half can be made up for an extra bed. This room is the entire North side of the upstairs and it overlooks the gardens, has many windows with a lot of light. Decorated in rich reds, yellows and greens, you'll be sure to "travel" somewhere as you explore all the antique maps, travel books and photos. The exposed brick from the house’s chimney adds a little character and the antique 1857 Missionary desk is available in case you have the need to catch up on some writing. You can also enjoy the new 26” TV with cable on a motion arm; viewable from most anywhere in the room. Finally, this room has personal climate control, you control the heating and air conditioning.

Victoria’s

Victoria’s is a very secluded and cozy room with a private entrance into the home just off the deck. It has a queen size bed and a small sitting area with an electric fireplace for warmth and ambiance. The antique armoire and settee provide function and a little piece of history. You’ll only have fifteen steps up to the outdoor hot tub and deck. Said to be the original kitchen in this 1878 farmhouse, it’s now under the current kitchen, so you’ll wake to the smells of breakfast drifting to your room. The extra large private bathroom has a lovely tub and shower.

A room of your own...
About a hundred yards down the hill from the main house, you have all the amenities of the grounds but total seclusion. The King size bed sits high on a fencepost bed frame and is decked out in denim. The bright yellow walls contrast the rustic barn motif and you’s enjoy an extra large room with sitting area. An additional double sized bed can offer extra accommodations and you can put your feet up in the double recliner. The private bath has shower and you're fully equipped with heating and air conditioning. You’ll old-style 27” TV provides you the basic channels, or you can bring the DVD player from the house and watch a movie.

Policies

My goal as your Historic Nebraska City lodging is simple...to provide you the best hospitality and to make your stay at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast a memorable one. In order to achieve this for every guest, some simple policies have been established for the bed and breakfast. Please take a moment to review these policies:

Cancellation Policy

As Whispering Pines is a small inn with a limited number of rooms, cancellations and no shows affect us significantly.

Cancellations made at least 14 days in advance of arrival, will be assessed a $25 handling fee. Cancellations made within 14 days of arrival, you are responsible for the total amount of your stay. However, you are not responsible for the dates that can be re-booked, only a $25 handling fee. You will be charged accordingly.

If a guest does not arrive and honor their reservation, or contact us to cancel, they will be charged for the full amount of the stay.

A special cancellation policy exists for groups or individuals reserving more than two rooms for any given date. This policy basically extends the cancellation notification period from 14 days to 30 days.

I understand that circumstances arise, sometimes out of a guest’s control, requiring the cancellation of a reservation. However, as a small business cancellations have a significant impact on us and the services we are able to provide. Therefore, we cannot make exceptions to this cancellation policies.

Business Traveler Rates

The Business traveler rate is $85 per night, single occupancy Sunday through Thursday.

This rate is available in select rooms only and only when booked by phone or online and requested specifically. This rate may not be available at all times, price does not include taxes.

Lenient Cancellation Policy

Having traveled for work for many years, I know that the business traveler cannot always predict where and when they will need to be. Because of this, I offer the business traveler a relaxed cancellation and change policy. If for any reason your plans change, contact us by noon on the day prior to the date of your scheduled arrival to cancel or change your plans (based on availability) without penalty. Of course, the travel must have been booked under the business traveler package by phone to qualify for this accommodation and you must have a confirmation number that refers to a business booking to qualify.

Flexible Breakfast Arrangements

I realize that you may need to hit the road early and there is no reason to do that on an empty stomach! I am happy to provide breakfast as early as 6 am for the business traveler. A lighter fare breakfast of pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, juice and coffee or hot tea is also an option. Please let me know of this request no later than the day prior to your stay.

Complimentary WiFi

Whispering Pines is happy to offer free WiFi access to our guests. I also have a printer and fax available for your use if need be.

Peace and Quiet

Best of all, I am happy to provide you with a quiet and home away from home atmosphere to unwind after your hectic work or travel days. Enjoy a glass of tea (or wine) on the veranda, relax in the hot tub under the moon and stars, take a few minutes for yourself, I won't tell!
